The 10th annual ‘Spaghetti & Art’ benefit for the Stockton Borough School (Stockton, NJ) will take place Sunday, May 6, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Stockton Inn. This enjoyable yearly gathering of artists, parents and other locals supports New Jersey’s oldest and smallest public elementary school, a four-room schoolhouse that has served the community for well over a century.

The event’s locale, the beautiful garden patio of the historic Stockton Inn, is known for its picturesque waterfalls…and the wishing well Richard Rodgers made famous with his song, “There’s a Small Hotel with a Wishing Well.” A buffet dinner of pasta, salad and assorted desserts will be followed by a silent auction. As in past years, the auction will offer an opportunity to bid on work by many local artists (Susan Roseman, Jerry Cable,  Mike Mann, Bob Beck, just to name a few), as well as gift certificates and other items from area restaurants, shops and entertainment venues. All proceeds from the event will be used for programs that benefit the students of the Stockton Borough School.

There’s still time to donate:

  • If you’d like to donate artwork — or a gift certificate or item from your shop or restaurant, contact Julia Grecco at 908.507.7815 or JAGRecco@verizon.net. Note: Artists eat free!
  • If you would like to donate services, such as gardening, tech support, cooking or baking lessons, contact Karen Edwards at 609.397.3125 or edwardsk816@comcast.net.

Even if you don’t have something to donate, you can help the school — and enjoy a fun night out — by coming to the event. Tickets for the buffet dinner are $15.00 for adults and $10 for children ages five to 12. Kids under age five eat free. There is a cash bar at the event. For ticket reservations, contact Kathleen Vandegrift at 609.397.7376 or kathleenvandegrift@yahoo.com. Tickets also will be available at the door for the same prices, but the event sells out quickly, so reservations are encouraged!

For more information about this event, contact Jim Gallagher, 609.397.4005, jgallagher@ottnpublishing.com.
